100 days in the U.S.
I can't believe it, but it seems like I've been in the country for exactly 100 days today! It does feel like it's a bit on the way :) Do u guys get annoyed by the English? I will try to write only today.. It's good for improving my skills ;)
I was thinking about what to write tonight, and one thing was quite clear: to be here, where everybody is talking the language.. It is freaking hard for me sometimes! I've had days I just wanna hide under the bed because I feel like I can't express in words what I want to say.. Today is not one of those days, but imagine yourself talking a "new" language every day! Don't get me wrong, I am partly here of that reason and I am SO glad my host family is all American, but anyway! So what I wanted to say was: it is a constant struggle, I am working on it every single day, but I know I am WAY better compared to when I first came here. And my au pair friends are giving me compliments about my skills, just yesterday a Swedish au pair told me I have an American accent. And that is my goal, so I am a good bit on he way :D
Talking about something else, completely different.. Every time I look myself in the mirror I almost get scared.. I need to make a haircut!! The hair is waaay too long, but also: I need to make highlights. It's urgent, I promise. I went to this saloon, to ask what it might cost.. Is 1000 bucks (Swedish crowns) reasonable to give for a haircut and blond highlights?! U guys actually have to answer that question, because I do not know. ;)
One thing that makes me smiling with my heart.. I have quite recently received 2 post cards from someone else than my family! (Don't take it the wrong way, family) But it's awesome receiving things from home :) Always.
What more should u know? Oh, on Saturday I have my first class. It's like American culture, some politics, and stuff. I am excited! I wanna know more about the country I live in :) Hope it's gonna be some Geography too. But it sucks that it's on a free day.. So why am I studying? I have too! To fullfill the criteries for my au pair year I have to study 6 credits. So when these 3 Saturdays is done+ the trip I made to D.C. I will have half of the credits I need :)
Take care!
Btw, u don't need to comment in English, that is just for my personal improvement in English ;)
